I am once again suffering Grey’s Anatomy. My ma has been away with friends for a long weekend so there has been no Corrie, NCIS, Frasier or the above.

I actually liked Frasier and watched most episodes when it first aired in – when was it 1980 something? and that is just the point.
These things were made 20 years ago and have been re run ever since. You can only watch the same episode so many times before screaming.
This cake was made a for an 18th birthday for a young man which sounds so formal but when I say boy In think of kids who are Dexter’s age.
I made the stars first, giving them time to harden.
There was no specific theme so I needed to find a design which would be special but not girly. My client agreed that a black, silver and white colour scheme would be glitzy and would work for a male birthday.

The bottom tier was covered with black sugarpaste and then overlaid with silver and white stars
The top tier is covered with black, white and silver vertical stripes.
The cake is topped with sugar stars on wires and a diamante number 18.
I used some edible sugar crystals on some of the stars. I painted these stars with edible glue and dipped them in the crystals.
The crystals are quite large so I pressed them down to make sure they stayed in place.

It is all getting a bit dramatic in Grey’s Anantomy – people losing lots of blood, and passing out in corridors.
On top of all this the biggest drama is always Meredith’s chaotic life and the constant possibility that she will burst into tears or whine at someone. Mum loves it though.
The cake looked great and was just right fot the birthday boy.

Could you please tell me how much the black and silver birthday cake is please
This trully is a stunning cake – im very jealous lol! And using black and silver is a great touch. You have certainly achieved a smart modern theme perfect for a guy’s birthday. I really love this cake!
The colour scheme is very unusual and quite striking – lovely cake!
